EXPERTISE:

Mery is an Attorney and Intellectual Property specialist. As an IP Attorney, she possesses extensive expertise in the registration of trade names, trademarks, slogans, recordals and all kinds of distinctive signs before the National Office of Industrial Property (ONAPI), as well as renewals and modifications of these signs.

Her specialization lies in the filing of opposition actions, nullity actions, replies, counter-replies, non-use cancellations actions, defense pleadings, and similar proceedings before the National Office of Industrial Property (ONAPI), as well as, drafting coexistence agreements and C&D letters.

Her knowledge continues to expand in the handling of patents where she continues to grow and lead.

Mery is also known for her work and experience in the corporate law department where she is in charge of constituting companies, renewing and modifying the commercial register, among others.

She is an active volunteer for the non-profit organization American Field Services (AFS), where she volunteers as a camp and orientations monitor, facilitator and mentor for participants from across the globe who visit the Dominican Republic for intercultural exchanges and volunteer programs. Her latest achievement is becoming part of the monitor council.

In 2019, she earned a scholarship from AFS Intercultural Programs to participate in a year-long exchange program in Turkey. This program aims to prepare future leaders, global citizens, and change agents with essential intercultural skills in the 21st century to engage, lead, and collaborate effectively in diverse cultural environments. Allowing her to engage in a successful communication with clients and agents.

While coursing through university she did her thesis in IP, focusing on copyright, here she mixed IP law and Constitutional law.
