Professional Background
Mery is an Attorney and Intellectual Property specialist with extensive expertise in the registration, renewal, and modification of trademarks, trade names, slogans, and all kinds of distinctive signs before the National Office of Industrial Property (ONAPI).
She specializes in opposition actions, nullity actions, non-use cancellations, replies and defense pleadings before ONAPI, as well as drafting coexistence agreements and cease and desist letters. Her practice continues to expand into patent matters, and she also handles corporate work, including company formation and commercial registry filings.
Mery is an active volunteer and monitor council member with AFS Intercultural Programs, and in 2019 earned an AFS scholarship for a year-long exchange program in Turkey focused on intercultural leadership. Her university thesis combined intellectual property and constitutional law, with a focus on copyright.
