Vanessa Castro is an attorney, Partner in our Guatemala office, with more than 15 years of experience in intellectual Property, advising local and international clients in the registration and protection of trademarks, patents, copyrights and trade secrets as well as related agreements and litigation. She also has vast experience in judicial actions for the annulment of trademarks, unfair competition, counterfeiting and piracy.
She has provided Intellectual Property training for members of the Guatemalan Tax Authorities (SAT), Intellectual Property Prosecutor’s Office (MP) and judges and court house personnel at the Judicial Studies School. Has participated as panelist and organizer of Intellectual Property events and was a Professor of Law at Universidad Galileo and Universidad Rafael Landívar.
She has been recognized as an IP STAR for Central America 2020-2021 by Managing IP and has been included in the prestigious publications, Chambers and Partners, Legal 500, Latin Lawyer and was awarded with the Women in Law Award 2015 by Lawyer Monthly Magazine.
She is an active member of the Interamerican Association of Intellectual Property (ASIPI), Intellectual Property Committee of the American – Guatemalan Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM), Guatemalan Bar Association and has been a member of the Unfair Competition Committee of the International Trademark Association (INTA) and of Lex Mundi’s Intellectual Property Practice Group.
